A new adventure for our Executive Director and continued solidarity with you

*For immediate release*

On September 5th, 2025, our Executive Director Stephanie Loraine Pineiro will be moving on to a new adventure after 10 years of service to this amazing organization. She has transformed Florida Access Network into the organization we see today and we are grateful for her service. Under her leadership, FAN pledged over $1,000,000 in direct abortion care support to our community. Beyond abortion funding, Stephanie was instrumental in establishing FAN as a leading force for reproductive justice. Stephanie’s leadership has earned recognition far beyond FAN, elevating the organization's profile and credibility:

  • In 2021, she became the first leader from a Florida abortion fund to testify before the United States Congress on the harmful impacts of abortion bans.

  • In 2022, she was honored with a proclamation recognizing her contribution to Women’s History from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

  • In 2024, she received the Trailblazer in Philanthropy Award from the Contigo Fund, a foundation dedicated to uplifting LGBTQ+ organizations in Central Florida.

  • In 2025, her contributions to Latine history were recognized by Congressman Maxwell Frost and entered into the official Congressional Record.

Stephanie has built an incredible foundation for FAN’s future. While we will deeply miss their daily leadership and passion, we are immensely grateful for everything she has given to this organization.

From the FAN Board:

“Stephanie’s unwavering commitment to abortion access and reproductive freedom built the Florida Access Network into the thriving and impactful organization it is today. Her leadership and bold advocacy transformed the landscape here in Florida to make it a safer, more resourced State to live. The Board is grateful for her service to FAN and wishes her the very best in her next chapter.” - Deva L. Cats-Baril, MPH

“Stephanie is a brilliant leader, trailblazer, and exemplary activist. It was through her extraordinary efforts to protect and advance abortion access that more received the care they needed. The Board is honored to have had the opportunity to work alongside her and wish her the very best in her future endeavors."- Brittany Williams, JD

From the FAN Team:

Stephanie, we admire, appreciate, love and thank you for all the time and heart you’ve dedicated to FAN. During some of the most hostile moments in this movement you’ve been an exemplarily bold leader!  We will always cherish you and everything you’ve accomplished for the good of the movement.

Here’s one last message from Stephanie to you:

There’s no way to sum up how proud I am of what we’ve accomplished and of my contributions to this organization's 30 year legacy. Serving as one of the only openly Queer Femme of Color leaders in this movement has been a challenge worth tackling. From our humble beginnings as a tiny nonprofit where I shared my abortion story at Denny’s for $25 to building a statewide organization that’s supported thousands of people getting $1,000,000 in abortion care support. All while shifting hearts and minds - we did that; we did it together. I am humbled to have helped transform FAN into a political home that makes abortion access a reality. We deserve to live in communities where all pregnancy outcomes, including abortions, are valued and protected - we deserve reproductive justice. This was only possible because of fierce partners like yall. Thank you for lifting us up, for lifting me up, for being co-conspirators, and for saying yes to dreaming and scheming for a more just world. I depart knowing this vital work is in the boldest and most capable hands with my beloved team.

On September 5th, Ginnely “Gin” Carrasco will become our Interim Executive Director who can be reached at gin@flaccessnetwork.org. Please join us in wishing Stephanie the very best in their next adventure and in thanking them for her transformative work. If you wish to reach Stephanie directly you can do so here.

Love & access,

Florida Access Network
